Everyone has a before and after story. People are often curious about outcomes and it shows up in various ways.

There are weight loss advertisements that include before and after pictures of successful clients. One where the photographer says, “Okay, side profile. Let your gut hang out. Good! Now for another shot. Suck it in… got it!”

There are reality TV shows that feature home renovations, auto restorations and image makeovers.

Do you remember before the Covid-19 pandemic’? Do you remember your life before you met Jesus? Do you remember life before you had children or were married?

Of course we remember what happened before. Right now though, we are in a state of waiting for the outcomes. What will it be likeafter the pandemic? After you graduate or after you move? What will it be like after we die?

In our exploration of what we can learn from saints that suffer, there is the strange and difficult story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They went through a severe test that includes before the furnace and after the fire.

If you find yourself in a fiery trial, it helps to know that God plans for good to come of it. There will be an after and it will be worth it after all.

Paul the Apostle grasped the long game for the Kingdom of God. This is what he saw about the before and after of all creation—humanity and everything in the universe.

Romans 8:

18 What We Are Suffering Now Is Nothing Compared With Our Future Glory. 19 Everything God Created Looks Forward To The Future. That Will Be The Time When His Children Appear In Their Full And Final Glory. 20 The Created World Was Held Back From Fulfilling Its Purpose. But This Was Not The Result Of Its Own Choice. It Was Planned That Way By The One Who Held It Back. God Planned 21 To Set The Created World Free. He Didn’t Want It To Rot Away. Instead, God Wanted It To Have The Same Freedom And Glory That His Children Have.
