The New Testament pastor Timothy had a wise, older mentor named Paul. Part of the apprenticeship of ministry included helping Timothy develop a stronger mindset. From the mind come the issues of life.

Timothy had a reputation for being timid and he had a stomach problem. Sometimes the weaknesses of our life set the boundaries on how we think. If you were always viewed as weak, or as the strongest you develop habits and approaches based on your self-awareness.

But when God puts his hands on a life, he calls us out of the past understanding and into new creation. We need to let our minds be renewed so we can understand better how God views and appreciates us in our uniqueness.

Listen to these wise words:

2 Timothy 1:

Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God.
