Jeffrey Toobin

Jeffrey Toobin appeared on CNN Thursday to comment as a legal analyst on California appealing a recent court decision on assault weapons bans. It was his first appearance since October, when he was fired for masturbating during a Zoom call with his colleagues at the New Yorker. He had worked there for 27 years.

Alisyn Camerota anchored the segment, and addressed the scandal righty away. “What the hell were you thinking?” she asked Toobin.

“Well obviously I wasn’t thinking very well or very much,” Toobin said. Ultimately, he called his behavior “deeply moronic and indefensible.” But he said he’s spent the seven “miserable” months since “trying to be a better person.” He claims he’s taken the time to go to therapy, do community service and write a book.
