A 24-year-old woman was arrested and charged on suspicion of falsified vaccination documents when she traveled to Illinois with a fake COVID-19 vaccination card. She did so to avoid the state’s strict mandatory 10-day quarantine, according to reports.
Apparently Chloe Mrozak, of Illinois, “also allegedly falsified information on her quarantine location.” Her card was flagged because it read Maderna, instead of Moderna.
First of all, the insanity behind the Orwellian law is obvious on its face. We started heading down this slippery slope at the beginning of the outbreak and it’s only become worse more than a year later. This is what I call a “COVID lawmaker power grab” intended to take away liberties from every day Americans.
It’s not that I don’t believe that the vaccine works but I don’t need to carry my measles, polio and flu vaccination card everywhere I go. Think about it? We are endowed with certain liberties and laws like this will always lead to arrests because in the end it’s up to each individual to do what’s right for them. The government should not force vaccines on everyone. That’s simply un-American.
In fact, new scientific studies suggest that the vaccine isn’t working as well as natural herd immunity against the highly transmissible COVID Delta.
Here’s a headline from a recent Yahoo Story: Even with the Delta variant, the ability of COVID-19 vaccines to prevent hospitalization hasn’t significantly dropped, CDC scientist says. Read it here.
I thought Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) has made the best arguments against these extreme draconian laws. In a recent and excellent column in The Hill, Paul argued with facts and science that these laws are infringing on American civil liberties.
The newest power grab comes in the form of an alleged “Vaccine Passport” which would determine your social suitability to engage in your everyday life. Want to go to the store? Show your vaccine card.Want to go to a restaurant or concert? Did you tell the government what vaccines you’ve had?Want to travel? VACCINE PAPERS PLEASE.I have been warning for a full year about the slippery slope that our freedoms were being pushed down. Even I wasn’t sure it would end with full on vaccine fascism. Let’s start with a few things the media will no doubt try to get wrong. I’m in favor of vaccines. I’m a Duke Medical School trained M.D. and I studied immunology before moving on to my career in eye surgery. Vaccines are a marvel of modern medicine, and the speed and effectiveness of the COVID vaccines have been great.I’m also in favor of people making their own medical and personal decisions.By early summer, everyone in America will have been eligible for a vaccine. Between those who took the vaccine or had COVID, there is little to no doubt we will have herd immunity by then, and danger from COVID will be low.Even the CDC now admits what I said months ago (and Dr. Fauci denied) — those who have been vaccinated are not getting sick and they are not passing along the disease to others. This makes the idea of a vaccine passport — which is a terrible idea for freedom — a simply poor idea overall, as it should have no impact on anyone.
Mrozak is the latest victim of these extreme measures. She was caught on Aug. 23, when the Safe Travels Program administrator reported a possible fraudulent COVID vaccination card after Mrozak uploaded and presented the card to the airport screener, the local news report states.
People who live in fear of the illness or those who are more apt to relying on the government to protect them may think this is ok. But remember it won’t end with COVID-19 vaccines. This law is based on fear, not on science. It is a slippery slope that will encroach on your own civil liberties one day whether it’s COVID-19 or some other issue. Once we allow the government to seize on our rights, we will only have ourselves to blame when we have none left.
“The screener failed to confirm Mrozak’s hotel reservation prior to her leaving the processing center. According to court documents, no reservation was found after contacting the hotel that she listed in her Safe Travels forms, and Mrozak did not provide her hotel reservation number and return flight information.”
